What does literacy actually do?.

« I’m the mother of one child, and my father and mother are beef farmers. As the first daughter, I had to help graze the animals. So, as you can see, like many of us here, I didn’t go to formal school. So, I couldn’t read or write. I seized the opportunity of opening literacy classes in our camp to learn to read and write in my mother tongue. »
